BCCI released the T20 series schedule against Afghanistan on Wednesday, August 12. However, a new request could alter those dates. Reference subtitle names September 14, while BCCI’s detailed fixture list begins on the 13th. A report says Afghanistan Cricket Board asked BCCI for one major schedule change.
Under the announced programme, India and Afghanistan will play three T20 matches. The first contest falls on September 13. Meanwhile, the second game follows on September 15. The final fixture comes on September 17. Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium will host all three encounters.
September 14 Request Could Force Consecutive Matches
India Today reports ACB wants BCCI to move either the first or second T20 onto September 14. Ganesh Chaturthi falls on that date. Therefore, any approved change would force at least two matches onto consecutive days. However, BCCI has not confirmed the proposed revision yet.
Current schedule therefore lists September 13, 15 and 17 across three games. Still, ACB’s request creates two possible starting dates. Series could begin September 13 or shift one day later, reaching the 14th.
This arrangement will mark India’s first time hosting another country through such a setup. However, every fixture will remain inside India. BCCI has already allocated Afghanistan three venues that function as its home grounds. Those locations include Dehradun, Lucknow and Greater Noida. The reference also points readers toward Team India’s remaining World Test Championship matches and WTC schedule.
Afghanistan Series Adds Fresh Doubt Over Bangladesh Tour
Meanwhile, confirmation of the Afghanistan series has created fresh uncertainty around India’s Bangladesh tour. Team India’s visit has faced delays since August 2025. Growing political tensions between both countries pushed the cricket tour towards September 2026.
Reports say BCB contacted BCCI about restoring the Bangladesh visit. However, the Indian board has issued no official statement on that request. Team India must play several series during the coming months. Therefore, confirmation of Afghanistan assignment has placed another question mark over Bangladesh tour.
