Azam Khan raids spark Akhilesh’s attack on BJP government

After ED searches linked to Azam Khan’s university and trust, Akhilesh Yadav accused BJP of targeting narrow political interests

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav reacted sharply after ED searches linked to Azam Khan. The searches covered 10 locations involving his university and trust. Akhilesh alleged that the BJP government ordered this action to satisfy 1-2% people. He shared his reaction through a post on social media platform X.

Akhilesh accused the BJP and its associates of targeting people who build universities. He also described the party as hostile towards education, teachers and students. According to his allegation, such actions aim to satisfy supporters with narrow communal thinking. Meanwhile, he claimed authorities ignore people involved in several crimes.

His post mentioned several alleged corruption and crime-related matters. These included theft linked to the Ram Mandir case and alleged protection for criminals. He also referred to codeine cough syrup smuggling and corruption cases.

Akhilesh raises infrastructure and corruption allegations

The Samajwadi Party chief also criticised infrastructure conditions under the BJP government. He alleged that the Bundelkhand Expressway has deteriorated. Furthermore, he described the Purvanchal Expressway as filled with jolts. He also claimed the Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway has developed potholes.

Akhilesh questioned several other infrastructure issues across Uttar Pradesh. His post mentioned cracks on the Green Corridor and damaged roads. He also referred to falling bridges and collapsing water tanks. Additionally, he cited leaking roofs and a station wall collapse.

The Kannauj MP raised alleged corruption involving police personnel in BJP-ruled states. He also mentioned police officers caught in other states. Besides, he referred to an alleged ₹1 lakh irregularity during Mahakumbh.

Akhilesh further alleged large-scale corruption through Smart City projects. He also accused BJP representatives of illegal construction on rejected land. Finally, he alleged a game involving the distribution of around ₹7,000 crore.

He claimed people used publicity around misconduct and objectionable remarks to cover that alleged distribution. His remarks came after ED searches involving Azam Khan’s university and trust.
