Uttar Pradesh to Revolutionize with 3200 KM Expressway Network: PM Modi Launches Ganga Expressway

"PM Modi inaugurates Ganga Expressway, while UP government sets ‘Mission 2029’ for a 3200 KM expressway network boosting growth

Uttar Pradesh’s development now moves at the speed of a bullet train. On Wednesday, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the 594 KM long Ganga Expressway. This marks the beginning of a new era for UP’s infrastructure.

The Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has launched “Mission 2029.” The goal is to build a 3200 KM expressway network by 2029, transforming the state’s connectivity and economy.

The Ganga Expressway: A Game Changer for Uttar Pradesh

The Ganga Expressway connects Western UP to Eastern UP. The 594 KM route links 12 districts, including Meerut, Hapur, Amroha, Shahjahanpur, and Prayagraj. The project, costing ₹36,230 crore, includes 14 large bridges, 165 small bridges, and 32 flyovers.

The expressway also serves a strategic role. It has a 3.5 KM-long airstrip near Shahjahanpur. This airstrip will allow fighter jets to land in emergencies. Two major toll plazas will be set up in Meerut and Prayagraj. Additionally, 19 ramp toll plazas and nine modern service centers will be built.

UP to Dominate India’s Expressway Network

The Ganga Expressway increases UP’s expressway network to 1910 KM, covering 60% of India’s total expressway length. With the upcoming Lucknow-Kanpur expressway, the total will reach 1973 KM by May.

Mission 2029: Expansion of Expressways in UP

UPEIDA has started work on 11 new expressway projects. These projects aim to create a seamless expressway network across the state. Land acquisition for several routes is in the final stages. The goal is to complete 3200 KM of expressways by 2029, setting a national record.

Economic Impact: Industrial Corridors Alongside Expressways

The new expressways will feature industrial corridors, reducing logistics costs and improving raw material movement. The quicker travel times from Meerut to Prayagraj will benefit both the public and businesses. This will position UP as the first choice for trade and investment.

UP Leads in Expressway Infrastructure

Currently, UP already has key operational expressways such as the Yamuna Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway, and Purvanchal Expressway. These developments solidify UP’s position as the nation’s leader in expressway infrastructure.

The Ganga Expressway inauguration is a decisive step towards making UP “North India’s growth engine.” With 3200 KM of expressways, UP aims to become a $1 trillion economy. Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, these infrastructure projects are transforming UP into a global investment hub.
