Russia Row Sparks Fear: Indian Engineer’s Wife Seeks Help Over Army Transfer Claim

Noida-based engineer Chandan Gupta’s wife alleged his arrest in Moscow and urged CM Yogi Adityanath to help secure his release.

Indian engineer Chandan Gupta, working in Russia on a work visa, faced arrest according to his wife Sneha Gupta. She shared a video and requested Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s intervention. Sneha alleged Russian police detained her husband without any reason and feared authorities could send him to the Russian army.

Wife Claims Police Took Chandan Away At Midnight

Sneha said she lives in Moscow and her husband works with Uflex Polyflex, an Indian company from Noida Sector 62. She explained that Chandan reached Russia through the company on a highly qualified visa. According to her, he works as an engineer and travelled through Uflex.

She mentioned Chandan’s passport number as V781317 and shared Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, as his address. Furthermore, Sneha requested CM Yogi’s help after police allegedly took her husband around 12:30 am. She claimed officers detained him despite no wrongdoing.

Sneha Raises Concern Over Possible Army Transfer

The incident happened around Moscow Day, according to Sneha’s video. She alleged authorities trapped Chandan and placed him in jail. Meanwhile, she said she struggles with the local language and lives there with her 10-year-old child.

She appealed to people to share her message with the Chief Minister. Sneha claimed Russia was sending people into the army due to a shortage of personnel. She requested immediate assistance to bring her husband back.

Embassy Takes Up Matter With Local Authorities

Meanwhile, reports stated that authorities detained Chandan Gupta and his friend Ashish on Saturday, September 5, 2026. The incident occurred around 11:30 pm near Moscow’s Red Square area.

Officials accused them of being intoxicated and damaging windows of a nearby ambulance. Currently, authorities have kept them at Moscow’s Baumanskaya police station.

The Indian Embassy raised the matter with local officials and requested their release. Additionally, the embassy sought consular access to meet Chandan Gupta. Embassy representatives remain in contact with Sneha Gupta regarding the case.
