CBI obtains 5-day remand for Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh as investigation into Twisha Sharma’s death intensifies in Bhopal

CBI presented arrested former judge Giribala Singh in Bhopal CBI Special Court on Friday, 29 May. Additionally, the agency requested a five-day remand for both Giribala Singh and husband Samarth Singh, which the court approved. Furthermore, their next court hearing is scheduled for 2 June at 2 pm.

Arrest and Interrogation Details

Giribala Singh’s arrest came a day after the MP High Court canceled her anticipatory bail. Moreover, on Thursday morning, around 10:30 am, a heavy CBI team arrived at her Katara Hills residence and questioned her for approximately seven hours. Following the interrogation, she underwent a medical examination at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, with permission from Madhya Pradesh police.

Background of Twisha’s Death

Twisha Sharma died on 12 May, allegedly by suicide, roughly five months after marrying Samarth Singh on 9 December 2025. However, the High Court noted WhatsApp chats and family statements suggesting allegations extend beyond the husband. Furthermore, the court recorded pressure to abort and confirmed that an abortion occurred.

Husband Also in CBI Custody

Samarth Singh, arrested on 22 May in Jabalpur, was transferred to CBI custody on Wednesday. Consequently, both key suspects now remain under the agency’s supervision for five days, allowing investigation to uncover critical details about Twisha Sharma’s death.
