Ram Temple SIT Report: Clean Chit for Champat Rai, Anil Mishra?

The SIT’s final report may clarify Champat Rai’s position, while questions still remain over Anil Mishra’s name.

The Uttar Pradesh Home Department has handed the final SIT report to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The department also asked the trust to take necessary action in the Ayodhya Ram Temple offering case. Meanwhile, the report appears to offer clarity regarding Champat Rai’s position. His name did not appear in the initial findings. Therefore, indications suggest the final document may also exclude him.

Anil Mishra’s Position Still Remains Unclear

However, Anil Mishra’s status remains uncertain. His name appeared in the initial SIT report. Yet, authorities have not clarified whether investigators removed it from the final findings. Officials also have not confirmed whether investigators found any fresh evidence concerning Mishra. Consequently, complete clarity will emerge only after authorities make the final report public.

The SIT prepared this report before the Supreme Court intervened in the matter. Subsequently, the investigation team submitted its findings to the state government. The administration had constituted the SIT on June 13 following a request from the trust.

Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant headed the three-member investigation team. IG Range Kiran S. joined as a member. Special Secretary, Finance, Neel Ratan Kumar also served on the panel. Later, the SIT submitted its preliminary report to the government on June 23. That document contained several stringent recommendations.

First FIR Followed the Preliminary SIT Findings

Authorities registered the first FIR on June 25 based on the preliminary report. The complaint named eight people and included other unidentified accused. Trust member Krishnamohan submitted the written complaint at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi police station.

Police registered FIR number 90/2026 in connection with the case. The named accused included Avinash Shukla and Anukalp Mishra. Lavkush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav and Karunesh Pandey also appeared in the complaint. Ramashankar Mishra and Subhash Srivastava featured among those named. Shri Ram Shankar Yadav, alias Tinnu, also faced accusations. Additionally, the FIR included other unidentified individuals.

Case Includes Multiple BNS and PC Act Sections

Police registered charges under Sections 305, 306, 316(5), 317(4), 317(5), 61 and 3(5) of BNS. The case also includes Section 13(1)(a) of the PC Act.

For now, the final report’s full list of names remains unavailable publicly. Therefore, Champat Rai’s position appears clearer, while uncertainty continues around Anil Mishra.
