After several months of prolonged confrontation, the United States and Iran have finally signed a peace agreement. US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian formally signed the memorandum. Consequently, the development has created global attention. However, the reaction in Israel has turned sharply tense following the announcement.
Netanyahu faces rising political and public pressure
The US–Iran peace deal has intensified challenges for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Moreover, public sentiment in Israel reflects growing dissatisfaction with the agreement. A survey conducted after the deal shows declining support among citizens. As a result, political pressure on Netanyahu continues to rise significantly.
Survey reveals low support and strong opposition
Israeli public broadcaster Kan conducted the survey involving 555 participants. According to findings from Tuesday, only 18 percent supported the agreement. Meanwhile, 55 percent opposed the US–Iran deal strongly. Additionally, 27 percent respondents remained neutral or undecided on the issue.
Majority still fears Iran despite diplomatic shift
Despite recent military strikes on Iran’s infrastructure, concerns remain high among Israelis. Around 70 percent participants still feel threatened by Iran’s military capability. Furthermore, 40 percent believe US President Donald Trump will remain a strong ally of Israel. However, 32 percent think his stance may shift after the agreement.
Strategic aim behind US Iran understanding
The agreement aims to reduce regional tensions across West Asia. Additionally, it focuses on controlling nuclear program concerns. Ultimately, both sides intend to avoid the possibility of wider conflict in the region. Therefore, the deal seeks long-term stability despite strong political reactions.
