Fast-Track Courts and Legislative Measures

PM Modi announced the formation of fast-track courts to expedite cases involving paper leak offenders. Officials will finalize the draft law during the cabinet meeting. The proposed amendments to the Public Examination (Prevention of Malpractice) Act, 2024, may include stricter punishments, higher fines, and additional authority for courts.

Currently, offenders face three to five years imprisonment and up to ten lakh rupees fines, while service providers risk up to one crore rupees. Organized crime cases may carry five to ten years jail and a minimum fine of one crore. The government aims to protect approximately 22 lakh students who will reappear in exams after cancellations.

Ensuring Student Safety and Accountability

PM Modi emphasized that all students’ rights must be safeguarded and their education continuity guaranteed. He reiterated that any individual jeopardizing students’ futures will face strict consequences. The government intends to implement reforms swiftly to prevent future paper leaks.

Authorities confirmed that fast-track courts and strict action would ensure prompt handling of cases. Meanwhile, students and parents closely monitor outcomes, seeking assurance that justice will be delivered efficiently.

The cabinet will discuss and finalize all measures, ensuring penalties, fines, and legal mechanisms address misconduct effectively. These steps aim to restore faith in the examination system while emphasizing the protection of students’ academic careers.
