Police took major action in the Bihar Jamui minor student harassment case. On Tuesday morning, officers surrounded the accused during an operation. During the encounter, main accused Nandan Yadav suffered a bullet injury on his leg. Another accused, Haryaram Yadav, also received serious injuries during the incident. Police admitted Nandan to Sadar Hospital for treatment after taking him into custody.
Police respond after accused allegedly open fire
According to police, officers received strong information about the accused location. Based on that input, the team surrounded the accused and started the operation. However, police said the accused opened fire at the police party while trying to escape. Therefore, officers carried out retaliatory firing during the encounter. Nandan suffered a leg injury and police immediately took him for medical care.
Second accused injured while escaping
Meanwhile, Haryaram Yadav also suffered injuries while attempting to flee from the spot. Police said he suffered a leg sprain during the incident. Earlier, officers had already arrested one accused named Ramashish Chaudhary. Police accused him of uploading the incident video on social media. The video helped police identify Nandan Yadav, who appeared wearing a red scarf.
Three accused arrested, six people detained
So far, police have arrested three accused in the case. Additionally, officers detained three juvenile offenders connected with the incident. Police stated that Nandan Yadav played a major role in the alleged harassment of the minor student. Authorities registered a case against seven people, including Nandan and Haryaram. The group includes three juveniles.
Earlier, police detained the three juvenile offenders during the investigation on Monday. Meanwhile, Nandan remained absconding after the incident. Finally, police conducted the encounter at Jamui’s Marwa hill area and took action against him.
