Border Tension Escalates As Nepal Citizens Allegedly Target SSB Patrol In Sushta Area

A dispute near the India-Nepal border in Bihar’s Bagaha led to alleged stone pelting on SSB personnel, prompting a police case against 200 unidentified people.

Tension has increased in the disputed Sushta area near the India-Nepal border in Bihar’s Bagaha. A patrol team of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) faced alleged stone pelting and misconduct by Nepal citizens.

Following the complaint from the 21st Battalion SSB, Valmikinagar police registered an FIR. The case names 150 to 200 unidentified people from Nepal’s Sushta village.

Meanwhile, police have started investigating the entire matter.

Dispute Emerged During Regular Border Patrol

According to information, the incident occurred during routine patrolling near the India-Nepal border area. The SSB team operated under Deputy Commandant Vijay Kumar’s leadership.

During the patrol, personnel reached the Sushta region inside Indian territory. At that location, workers were extending a soil embankment towards the Indian side.

However, the situation became tense after disagreements over the construction activity.

SSB Raised Violation Concerns Over Earlier Understanding

The SSB stated that Indian and Nepal security officials reached an agreement on July 31. Both sides agreed to maintain the existing situation and avoid construction beyond the fixed boundary.

However, the construction work reportedly started again despite the understanding. Therefore, SSB personnel objected to the activity.

Afterward, the force discussed the matter with Nepal’s Armed Police Force (APF) officials. During these discussions, the situation became more strained.
