CJP Protest Escalates As Rahul Gandhi And Priyanka Face Detention

The NEET paper leak protest moved from Jantar Mantar to PM residence as Congress leaders joined the demonstration

The NEET paper leak protest has now entered a political phase. The movement moved from Jantar Mantar towards the Prime Minister’s residence.

On Tuesday, July 21, Congress leaders protested against the police action during the student march. The action followed the Parliament March held on July 20. Rahul Gandhi joined the protest near 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. Two chief ministers and several MPs also joined him.

The Congress leader continued the sit-in for more than two hours. Meanwhile, senior government and police officials tried convincing the protesters.

Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi And Akhilesh Detained

After the protest ended outside the Prime Minister’s residence, police detained Rahul Gandhi. Priyanka Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also faced detention. The Congress criticised the police action against opposition leaders. The party shared a post on X after the detention. The post stated that the opposition faced such treatment from the government. Congress called the situation shameful.

The protest focused on the police response during the CJP student march. Leaders raised concerns about the treatment of young demonstrators.

CJP Announces Protest Outside Delhi Police Headquarters

Meanwhile, CJP announced a peaceful protest outside Delhi Police Headquarters. The organisation planned the demonstration at 8 PM on July 21. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das shared the announcement through an X post. He accused police of using extreme force against peaceful protesters.

According to Das, police detained hundreds of demonstrators after the action. He claimed authorities denied lawyers access to detained people.

Furthermore, he said police had not provided the complete detainee list. CJP demanded constitutional rights for those held by authorities.
