During the CJP protest, clashes occurred between Delhi Police personnel and demonstrators. Police used lathi charges and tear gas shells during the confrontation. Several police officers and personnel suffered injuries during the clash with protesters. Therefore, families of injured police personnel held a press conference on Friday, 31 July.
The families said they wanted to present their side before the media. They also showed videos recorded after speaking with injured police personnel. According to their statement, a uniform represents more than an officer. Behind every policeman, a mother and children wait for their safe return home.
ASI Family Recalls Injuries During Protest
Seema, the wife of an injured Delhi Police ASI, said disruptive elements were present during the protest. She added that police personnel also have families who worry about them. The ASI’s daughter claimed that people called her father a criminal. Meanwhile, his wife said protesters attacked police personnel with stones.
The families explained that every uniform represents a son and husband too. Kundan, the injured officer’s daughter, said her father also suffered injuries. She shared that her father got injured at Jantar Mantar on 25 July.
Furthermore, Kundan said colleagues brought her injured father back after the incident. She recalled that his complete uniform had turned red with blood. She also said doctors placed four stitches on her father’s head.
Wife Describes ASI’s Condition After Clash
Seema said her husband received duty during the Jantar Mantar protest. She recalled speaking with him on 20 July. During that conversation, he informed her about the heavy crowd present there.
Later, when she called him at 7 pm, he was receiving treatment at LNJP. She said the crowd became aggressive, causing injuries to several police personnel.
Additionally, Seema explained that her husband’s safety helmet also broke during the incident. Families of injured officers said they wanted people to understand the challenges faced by police personnel during such situations.
