Bihar faces a rising flood threat across several districts. Meanwhile, the disaster management department issued an alert on Thursday. The department warned eight districts about possible flood situations. Additionally, officials released safety guidelines for residents living in vulnerable areas.

The water resources department informed authorities about rising Ganga levels. Furthermore, Gandhi Ghat in Patna may cross the highest flood level during Thursday night. Handidah in Mokama may also cross the highest flood level on September 4 afternoon.

Considering the expected rise in the Ganga river level, authorities alerted Bhojpur, Patna, Saran, Vaishali, Nalanda, Begusarai, Lakhisarai and Jehanabad. Therefore, officials advised people in low-lying areas to remain careful. Residents should avoid taking unnecessary risks during this situation.

Authorities issue safety guidelines for residents

The disaster management department asked people to avoid unnecessary visits near rivers, ghats, embankments and low-lying areas. Moreover, families should keep children, elderly people and persons with disabilities away from flooded locations.

Residents should know about safe places and relief camps identified by authorities. Additionally, people should move there immediately during emergencies.

Officials advised citizens to avoid bathing, swimming and unnecessary boat travel in rivers. People should also stay away from risky activities like taking selfies near water bodies.

Residents should keep important documents, medicines, mobile phones, torches, drinking water and essential items ready. These supplies should remain safe and easy to carry.

Furthermore, people must avoid believing rumours during the flood situation. Citizens should trust only official updates from district administration and disaster management authorities.

If water levels rise further, residents must follow instructions from administration and rescue teams immediately. During emergencies, people can contact local authorities or the State Emergency Operations Centre on 1070.
