The Samajwadi Party has started preparing for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly election. Party chief Akhilesh Yadav gave workers a target of adding 27,000 votes per seat.
The party created this formula after analysing the 2022 assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha election results. SP identified seats where candidates lost with narrow margins.
SP Focuses On Seats Lost By Small Margins
During the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly election, SP lost 141 seats with margins below 27,000 votes. Therefore, the party now plans to strengthen its position on these seats.
Among these seats, eight witnessed defeat margins below 1,000 votes. Meanwhile, 18 seats had gaps between 1,000 and 5,000 votes.
Additionally, 35 seats saw margins between 5,000 and 10,000 votes. Around 61 seats had losing gaps between 10,000 and 20,000 votes.
Furthermore, 45 seats recorded defeat margins between 20,000 and 27,000 votes. Hence, SP is working to increase support by 27,000 votes.
Party Targets New Voters Through Booth Network
Akhilesh Yadav instructed workers to connect with voters who did not vote during previous elections. The party aims to reach around five crore such voters.
For this campaign, SP workers are following a booth-level approach similar to the BJP’s model. The party has created a detailed plan for local teams.
Moreover, workers received instructions to strengthen voter connections in every assembly area. The strategy focuses on increasing support before the 2027 polls.
SP Sets Membership Goal At Every Booth
Along with the 27,000 vote target, the party has created a membership expansion plan. Workers must add at least 300 new members at every booth.
According to SP, a strong membership drive can bring more supporters into the party. Therefore, the party believes this could change electoral calculations on several seats in 2027.
