Rajasthan Civic Polls: BJP Leads, But Congress Wins Key Urban Battles

Results from 10 municipal corporations reveal BJP’s overall lead, while Congress secured victories in several major cities including Bikaner and Ajmer.

Rajasthan Municipal Results: BJP Leads Congress in Cities

Rajasthan announced results for 10 municipal corporations after the urban local body elections. BJP won six corporations, Congress secured three, while others captured one corporation.

The state conducted elections across 309 urban bodies. These included 10 municipal corporations, 47 municipal councils, and over 200 municipalities.

BJP Leads Ward Count Across 10 Municipal Corporations

Across Rajasthan’s 10 municipal corporations, 855 wards decided the final outcome. BJP won the highest number with 385 wards.

Meanwhile, Congress secured 292 wards and other candidates won 135 wards. The results showed mixed performances across major cities.

In Jaipur Municipal Corporation, BJP won 68 wards while Congress secured 48 wards. Others won 14 wards out of the declared results.

Jodhpur Municipal Corporation recorded a close contest. BJP and Congress each won 44 wards, while others secured 11 wards.

City-Wise Municipal Corporation Results Show Mixed Trends

In Kota, BJP won 47 wards, Congress secured 29 wards, and others won two wards. The results were declared for 78 out of 100 seats.

However, Bikaner showed a different picture. Congress won 42 wards, BJP secured 27 wards, and others captured 11 wards.

Similarly, Ajmer results gave Congress 37 wards, BJP 32 wards, and others 11 wards. Udaipur saw BJP dominate with 53 wards, while Congress won 23 wards and others four wards.

Furthermore, Bhilwara gave BJP 45 wards, others 15 wards, and Congress 10 wards. Alwar results showed BJP winning 28 wards, Congress 23 wards, and others 14 wards.

Bharatpur and Pali Delivered Surprising Results

In Bharatpur Municipal Corporation, independent candidates achieved the highest count with 38 wards. BJP won 20 wards, while Congress secured seven wards.

Meanwhile, Pali saw Congress leading with 29 wards. BJP won 21 wards and others secured 15 wards.

Jodhpur and Bharatpur produced unexpected results during the civic elections. In Jodhpur, Congress lost the ward linked to former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, where BJP won.

At the same time, BJP lost the ward associated with Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Congress candidate secured victory there.

In Bharatpur, the home district of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, independent candidates won the highest number of seats.

Council and Panchayat Results Show No Clear Majority

So far, three districts have not received a clear majority. Among 45 municipal councils, BJP achieved majority in 14 councils. Congress gained majority in six councils, while independent candidates led seven councils. Meanwhile, 20 councils still await a clear majority.

Across 252 municipal panchayats, BJP gained majority in 67 areas. Congress secured victories in 38 panchayats, while independents won 16.

However, 131 municipal panchayats still do not have a clear majority.
