Supreme Court Orders Open Space for Friday Prayers in Bhojshala, Upholds Rights While High Court Ruling Stays Active

The Supreme Court directs an open area near the Bhojshala complex for Muslim prayers, keeping historical structure intact.

The Supreme Court rejected the High Court stay and ordered an open space for prayers near Bhojshala. The court instructed authorities to allow prayers every Friday from 1 PM to 3 PM. The ASI must maintain the building in its current condition. The next hearing will occur in three weeks to continue examining legal issues and administrative oversight.

Court Issues Notices to All Parties

The Chief Justice-led bench sent notices to all parties to ensure proper representation. The court emphasized balancing religious access and heritage protection. Authorities must complete the proceedings efficiently while safeguarding both communities’ rights.

Petitioners Challenge Prior Arrangements

Senior advocate Huzaifa Ahmadi argued that authorities altered prior arrangements without consulting petitioners. Petitioners said this blocked their religious practices. They requested the High Court to secure their rights. They emphasized the urgent need for a proper space near Bhojshala. The court must provide the space while preserving administrative and structural control over the complex.
