Uttarakhand police arrested suspended BKTC employee Promod Nautiyal following alleged donation mismanagement at Badrinath temple and ongoing inquiries. The arrest occurred at Nautiyal’s residence, and authorities immediately brought him to Badrinath for questioning.
Police and Committee Details
Senior Superintendent of Police Surjeet Singh Panwar confirmed Nautiyal’s arrest Sunday night. BKTC, a statutory body managing Badrinath and other religious sites, had suspended Nautiyal earlier. He had previously served as the personal assistant to the BKTC chairman. Police registered an FIR against him late Tuesday night.
Preliminary Investigation Findings
A four-member BKTC committee found initial evidence supporting claims of irregularities in temple donation management. This discovery prompted faster legal action against Nautiyal.

State Government Oversight
Uttarakhand government formed a three-member committee last week to probe the allegations further. The committee, chaired by the Garhwal Commissioner, will submit its report and recommendations to the state administration.
Case Background
The controversy surfaced during counting of donations at Badrinath temple after alleged mismanagement claims appeared on social media. ‘Bhairav Sena’ demanded a formal FIR and detailed investigation, which ultimately prompted police action.
