Anantnag Terror Attack: Police Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Martyred, Search Operation Begins

A terror attack near Lal Chowk in Anantnag claimed the life of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain, while security forces launched a search operation.

A major security incident occurred in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Unknown terrorists opened fire near Lal Chowk. According to PCR Anantnag information, unidentified terrorists targeted a police party around 12:35 pm. The firing occurred in Kotwal Gali area under Anantnag police station jurisdiction.

Following the attack, the attacker escaped from the location. Meanwhile, security forces launched a search operation to trace the terrorists.

Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Martyred During Terror Attack

During the firing, Head Constable Ashiq Hussain from IR’s third battalion made the supreme sacrifice. He was deployed for Amarnath Yatra security duty. After the incident, panic spread across the area. Additionally, security forces surrounded the location and started searching for attackers.

Authorities continue the operation while teams work to identify those involved in the attack.

TRF Claims Responsibility For Anantnag Attack

Officials stated that The Resistance Front (TRF) claimed responsibility through a social media post. The group, linked with Lashkar-e-Taiba, shared the claim after the attack.

Lal Chowk Remains A Busy Area In Anantnag

Lal Chowk in Anantnag remains one of the busiest areas of the district. Buyers and local residents usually gather there in large numbers. Furthermore, the area has witnessed political meetings and rallies over time. Like Srinagar’s Lal Chowk, this location also holds public importance.

Security forces continue their search operation as authorities work to trace the attackers.
