Akshardham-Jewar Expressway Route Finalised, Big NCR Boost Ahead

The upcoming 8-lane elevated expressway from Delhi’s Akshardham area to Jewar Airport will improve connectivity across Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Delhi, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh residents may soon get faster airport access. The route for a 50-kilometre elevated expressway has been finalised.

The upcoming 8-lane expressway will connect Delhi’s Akshardham area with Noida International Airport in Jewar. The authorities have sent the final route plan after completing the review.

The project will cost around ₹4,000 crore and the National Highways Authority of India will construct it. The road will begin near Akshardham Temple on Delhi-Merut Expressway.

Furthermore, the route will provide direct connectivity to Jewar Airport without major traffic interruptions. The project will also support two new metro extension routes.

Expressway Will Pass Through Noida And Yamuna Authority Areas

The elevated corridor will run parallel to the Yamuna embankment area. It will pass between the Yamuna River and Yamuna Expressway region.

Out of the total 50 kilometres, 27 kilometres will fall under Noida Authority limits. The route will begin from Sector-94 and cover Sector-150 and Manjhawali bridge areas.

Meanwhile, the remaining 23 kilometres will come under Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. This section will reach Sector-23H and Sector-23C of Yamuna City.

Additionally, a 120-metre-long bridge and special elevated structure will cross the Yamuna River.

Detailed Route Will Connect Delhi With Jewar Airport

The expressway will start from the D-Structure near Akshardham Temple. This point connects with the Delhi-Merut Expressway. Afterward, the road will move parallel to the Yamuna embankment near Kalindi Kunj. It will cross the Hindon River and reach the Y-4 structure in Greater Noida.

Further, the route will pass through Gharbara, Muradpur, Sector-27, Sector-26, Sector-24 and Sector-24A. These areas lie between Yamuna Expressway and the Yamuna River.

Later, the road will turn left from Jaganpur beyond Sector-27. It will connect with the Manjhawali bridge road after extending around two kilometres.

Finally, the route will join the Faridabad-Jewar Greenfield Expressway between Sector-23C and Sector-23H. This expressway directly enters the airport premises.

Construction Will Progress In Two Phases

The first phase will cover the section from Noida Sector-94 to Yamuna Authority’s Sector-23H area. The second phase will build the stretch between Akshardham and Noida Sector-94.

However, the second phase requires NHAI approval and technical permissions. The reason involves Okhla Bird Sanctuary and environmentally sensitive zones.

Moreover, NHAI has requested revenue maps of 26 villages from district administration and authority officials. The detailed project report and soil testing work will now begin.

Multiple Interchanges Will Improve Traffic Flow

The expressway will include four major interchanges and loops. These facilities will help vehicles move smoothly without interruptions.

Besides this, four new loops will support access to Bhagel Elevated Road on DSC Road. The agency for this work has already been selected.

Delhi, Haryana And UP Travellers Will Benefit

Delhi travellers from Mayur Vihar, Akshardham, Patparganj, Kalindi Kunj, Sarita Vihar and Outer Delhi will gain direct access. They can reach Jewar Airport without traffic signals. Similarly, vehicles from Faridabad, Ballabhgarh and Palwal will use the Manjhawali bridge. This connection will reduce travel distance and time to Jewar Airport.

Additionally, residents of Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Vaishali, Vasundhara, Sahibabad, Noida and Greater Noida will benefit. They will reach the airport faster without getting stuck in congestion.
