The NEET UG 2026 exam has been canceled after reports confirmed a paper leak. The National Testing Agency (NTA) decided to annul the exam, and the CBI now handles the investigation. The paper leak has sparked concerns, especially since the leak was linked to multiple states, including Nashik.
New Nashik Connection Uncovered in Paper Leak
A key development in the NEET UG 2026 paper leak is the revelation of a Nashik connection. A suspect was arrested in Indiranagar Police Station area, and investigations are ongoing. Rajasthan Police and other agencies are questioning the suspect to uncover more details. This case has expanded beyond Nashik, with connections to other states emerging.
CBI Takes Charge of the Investigation
The CBI has now taken over the investigation into the NEET UG 2026 paper leak. NTA had initially begun its inquiry but handed the case over to the CBI for a more thorough investigation. The CBI will track the origins of the leak and hold accountable all those involved.
Kerala at the Center of the Paper Leak
Kerala emerged as the central point of the leak investigation. Rajasthan Police’s SOG found that a candidate from Churu in Rajasthan, who was studying MBBS in Kerala, had a leaked guess paper. The guess paper, which matched several questions in the exam, led to the paper being considered compromised. Investigations also uncovered possible links to suspects in Dehradun.
Plans for Re-Exam in June
NEET UG 2026, initially held on May 3, has now been canceled due to the leak. The NTA released the provisional answer key on May 6, but the paper leak forced the cancellation of the exam. NTA has now announced plans for a re-exam, likely in June.
The timing of the re-exam is influenced by the ongoing CUET UG 2026, which runs until May 30. Since there are already concerns about exam center availability for CUET UG, NEET UG will most likely take place in June. NTA will use this time to ensure better arrangements for the re-exam.
