Deadly Palam Blaze: 7 Die, Two Jump as Flames Engulf Building Near Metro

Massive fire in a four-storey building near Palam Metro kills seven, injures several, and triggers a large rescue operation.

A devastating fire erupted Wednesday morning near Palam Metro station in southwest Delhi. Consequently the tragedy destroyed one family inside a four-storey residential building.

Meanwhile thick smoke rapidly spread through the structure and trapped several residents. Therefore family members struggled desperately to save lives inside the building.

Fire Breaks Out in Sadh Nagar Building

The incident occurred in Ram Chowk market area of Sadh Nagar within Palam police station jurisdiction. Moreover the building belonged to Rajendra Kashyap and carried the name Pravesh Building.

Additionally the ground floor housed a cosmetic showroom and a clothing shop. However upper floors served as the family’s residence.

Fire Spreads Quickly Through Residential Floors

Around 6:40 in the morning flames suddenly erupted inside the building. Meanwhile most residents were sleeping during that moment.

Consequently smoke spread across the house within minutes. Therefore panic and chaos quickly filled the building.

Several people managed to escape outside. However other family members remained trapped inside the structure.

Seven Dead Including Children

Authorities confirmed that the fire caused the deaths of seven people. Moreover the victims included three children.

Meanwhile two individuals jumped from the building to escape the flames.

Rescue Operation with 30 Fire Engines

Emergency teams quickly launched a large rescue operation after receiving the alert. Moreover officials reported receiving the fire call around 7 am.

Consequently Delhi Fire Service dispatched 30 fire engines to control the flames.

Furthermore firefighters attempted to extinguish the fire and rescue trapped occupants.

Meanwhile police and other emergency services also joined rescue efforts in the densely populated area.

Authorities said several individuals might still remain trapped inside the building during early operations.

Family Takes Risk to Save Children

Meanwhile family members attempted desperate actions to save two small children aged around one to two years. Therefore Pravesh, Rajendra’s son, threw a baby girl and another child from the first floor.

Fortunately people standing below caught both children immediately. Consequently rescuers rushed them quickly to a nearby hospital.

Reports say the baby girl suffered a fracture. Meanwhile the other child received burn injuries.

Witnesses also reported that another child slipped from someone’s hands during the rescue attempt. However rescuers saved the child though the child suffered a head injury.

Leaders Express Grief Over Tragedy

Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor expressed sorrow over the tragic fire incident. Moreover he conveyed condolences to families affected by the disaster.

Additionally he confirmed that authorities continue monitoring rescue and relief operations. Therefore officials promised all necessary assistance.

Meanwhile Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also expressed deep grief after learning about the tragedy. She stated that early information suggested six deaths and possible people still trapped inside. Furthermore district administration, Delhi Fire Service and Delhi Police jointly led the rescue mission.

Additionally authorities ordered a magisterial inquiry to investigate the cause of the fire.

Several Lives Saved During Rescue

Rescue teams managed to save ten people from the building during the operation. However officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the fire.
