The Disappearance That Raised Alarm
The victim, a first-year MBA student in Indore, left home Tuesday afternoon. She told her family she needed to correct her birth certificate.
Later, she informed her younger sister about attending a birthday gathering. She said she would return home by eleven that night.
However, she never returned. Around eleven pm, a message from her phone stated she would not return home.
Soon afterward, her phone switched off completely. Meanwhile, objectionable videos circulated in a college WhatsApp group.
Investigators suspect Dhamnotiya used her phone to share those videos. Consequently, college authorities alerted her father immediately.
Alarmed, the family approached multiple police stations seeking urgent assistance. Eventually, police registered a missing complaint late Wednesday night.
The family later alleged police showed little urgency during initial searches. According to them, officers visited Dhamnotiya’s rented house in Dwarkapuri.
However, they locked the house from outside and left the premises. Meanwhile, the family continued searching desperately for their daughter.

The Grim Discovery
Two days later, neighbors complained about a foul smell from the locked house. Therefore, police broke open the door Friday morning.
Inside, officers found the victim’s naked body in advanced decomposition. Her father identified her only through the socks she wore.
Doctors observed rope marks around her neck, indicating strangulation. Initial medical assessment placed the time of death three days earlier.
Furthermore, CCTV footage showed Dhamnotiya entering the house with the victim. Approximately two hours later, cameras captured him leaving alone carrying a bag.
Police Allegations Detail Brutality
Police allege Dhamnotiya pressured the woman for sexual relations inside the apartment. She reportedly refused, citing poor health.
Investigators claim he raped her after she resisted his advances. Subsequently, police say he tied her hands and feet.
Authorities allege he blindfolded her, claiming he planned to give a gift. However, when she resisted again, events escalated fatally.
Police claim he stuffed cloth into her mouth and sat on her chest. Consequently, she stopped breathing during the assault.
Realizing her condition, investigators allege he stabbed her chest forcefully. Police say the knife blade broke due to the impact.

Police state that eleven explicit videos were circulated from the victim’s phone. The clips appeared in a college WhatsApp group and status updates.
Moreover, the content alarmed relatives and classmates immediately. The victim’s father alleged prolonged mental torture and blackmail.
He stated his daughter shared concerns with her younger sister earlier. Therefore, investigators are examining potential prior harassment carefully.
Movements After the Crime
After leaving Indore, police say Dhamnotiya travelled to Mumbai through Panvel. He reportedly stayed in multiple hotels during transit.
Investigators allege he destroyed the victim’s phone to erase evidence. Furthermore, police claim he attempted bizarre ritual practices.
According to investigators, he lit incense sticks in a secluded area. They say he watched online videos about summoning spirits.
Police described these acts as ritualistic behavior following the crime. Consequently, authorities added these details to the investigation record.
Arrest and Interrogation
Mumbai Police assisted Indore authorities in tracking and arresting Dhamnotiya. Officers detained him and transferred him back to Indore.
He currently remains on police remand for detailed questioning. During interrogation, police say he offered multiple conflicting accounts.
