Parliament continues witnessing disruptions with only one day remaining in the Monsoon Session. Meanwhile, opposition parties keep protesting against the government. They continue demanding answers from Home Minister Amit Shah. Amid this standoff, Shah broke his silence and offered responses to every question. Rahul Gandhi then sharply reacted to those remarks.
Speaking with the media, Shah criticised opposition leaders over words such as “missing” and “ran away.” He said such language still appears within India’s public and parliamentary life. Shah added that he has attended Parliament continuously since the session began. According to him, he regularly sits inside his chamber. However, he questioned the purpose when opposition members prevent House proceedings.
Shah said Kiren Rijiju had already clarified the government’s position. According to him, authorities remain ready for every discussion concerning student protests. However, both sides must agree on adequate time for debate.
The Home Minister again said he would answer any question. Nevertheless, Shah accused opposition parties of blocking discussion itself. He asked them to submit a letter to the Speaker by 3 pm today. Furthermore, Shah offered discussion until 3 pm tomorrow.
He promised to remain inside the House throughout proceedings. Shah said he would listen to everyone before answering every matter. Therefore, he argued that opposition parties must choose between debate and disruption.
Rahul Gandhi Targets Shah Over Student Violence Questions
After Shah’s remarks, Rahul Gandhi posted a video and attacked his silence. He wrote that silence reveals everything when someone lacks courage to speak truth. Gandhi then described Shah’s silence as his “confession.”
Speaking with reporters, Rahul said the opposition had no interest in hearing Shah’s statement. He explained that “we” referred to the country’s younger generation.
Rahul asked who fired at students. He also questioned who ordered attacks using sticks fitted with nails. Furthermore, Gandhi asked whether Amit Shah had authorised firing against children. According to Rahul, Shah should resign if he issued such instructions.
The Congress leader also claimed Shah had remained missing for 20 days. He further alleged that India’s Home Minister lacked courage to enter the House.
Rahul separately addressed the Jharkhand issue. He said he had not remained silent over developments there. Moreover, Gandhi cited his press conference remarks on violence involving students. He said they do not appreciate any violence against them. Finally, Rahul stressed that he continues speaking openly.
One Final Day Remains for Parliament to Break the Stalemate
Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have struggled to conduct proceedings during the Monsoon Session. Meanwhile, government and opposition lawmakers continue protesting against each other.
Opposition parties criticise Amit Shah for not answering inside Parliament. Conversely, NDA MPs protest against the lathi-charge on students in Jharkhand.
Only one day now remains before the session concludes. Therefore, the central question concerns whether Shah will answer tomorrow. Otherwise, the final day could also end amid disruptions like previous proceedings.
