Continuous flooding has caused severe destruction across Assam, with several districts facing the crisis. So far, authorities have reported 100 deaths across the state. Sunday’s Disaster Reporting and Information Management System Assam bulletin detailed widespread damage across numerous affected areas. The reported victims include 60 men, 23 women and 18 children. Among the children, officials counted 12 boys and six girls.
Meanwhile, Delhi continues facing flood concerns because of the Yamuna’s rising water level. Several Uttar Pradesh districts also remain under a yellow alert for heavy rainfall. Furthermore, forecasts indicate difficult weather conditions across Bihar, Kerala and Gujarat.
Sivasagar Death Count Revised From 50 to 49
The administration corrected Sivasagar district’s death count after discovering a duplicate entry. Officials had mistakenly registered one person twice under the same name. Therefore, authorities reduced the district’s total fatalities from 50 to 49. The administration confirmed that the duplicate record caused the earlier discrepancy.
Cachar and Sivasagar Record Major Loss of Lives
Cachar and Sivasagar rank among Assam’s worst-affected districts during the flooding. Cachar has recorded 22 deaths so far, while Sivasagar reported 49 fatalities. Additionally, Karimganj has registered nine deaths, whereas Golaghat recorded eight. Flood-related fatalities have also occurred across Dhemaji, Nagaon, Udalguri, Sonitpur and Karbi Anglong.
Delhi Monitors Yamuna as Storm Warning Remains
Delhi continues facing flood concerns after rainfall pushed the Yamuna’s water level higher. However, the river has started receding following water releases from Hathnikund Barrage. Meanwhile, the Flood and Irrigation Department remains alert and continues monitoring water levels closely. Authorities have also issued warnings for thunderstorms and rainfall across the capital. During showers, strong winds could reach speeds between 40 and 50 kilometres per hour. Therefore, residents need to remain cautious about changing weather conditions.
UP Rivers Rise as Heavy Rain Yellow Alert Expands
Continuous monsoon rainfall has increased water levels across several rivers in Uttar Pradesh. More than 10 rivers remain near danger marks, including Ganga, Yamuna, Sharda and Saryu.
