NEET UG 2026 Counselling Date Nears, Medical Aspirants Await MCC Schedule Release

NEET UG 2026 qualified students may begin counselling from 7 August as MCC prepares to announce the detailed admission schedule soon.

Thousands of NEET UG 2026 qualified students may soon receive relief as the Medical Counselling Committee prepares the counselling schedule. Currently, the MCC official website shows the message “Will Update Soon”. This indicates that authorities may upload the complete counselling programme shortly. According to available information, NEET UG 2026 counselling may start from 7 August 2026. Meanwhile, MCC may release the detailed schedule on 31 July or during the first week of August. Afterward, candidates can complete online registration, college selection, course preferences, and choice locking.

Health Minister Reviews Admission Preparation

Before the counselling process begins, Union Health Minister JP Nadda reviewed preparations during a high-level meeting on 29 July. During the meeting, officials discussed several important areas including counselling schedules, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, grievance support, candidate assistance systems, and coordination with medical institutions. Moreover, the health minister instructed officials to maintain a transparent, fair, and merit-based admission process. He also directed authorities to ensure students do not face technical or administrative difficulties during counselling.

Seat Allotment And Complete Counselling Process

As per the expected timeline, MCC may announce the first round seat allotment result by mid-August. Candidates receiving seats must report to their allotted medical colleges by 31 August 2026. They will complete document verification and other admission formalities during this period. Furthermore, MCC will conduct counselling for 15 percent All India Quota medical and dental seats. However, respective state counselling authorities will manage admissions for 85 percent state quota seats.

After registration, candidates will fill their preferred colleges and courses online. Additionally, seat allocation will depend on NEET UG rank, candidate choices, and available seats. Students accepting allotted seats must report to colleges, verify documents, and pay fees. Meanwhile, candidates seeking better options can select the float option. This allows them to retain their current seat while seeking upgrades in later rounds.

Candidates should keep essential documents ready before counselling begins. These include NEET UG 2026 admit card, scorecard, rank letter, class 10 and 12 certificates, identity proof, passport-size photographs, provisional seat allotment letter, reservation certificate, and PwBD certificate if applicable.
