Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a video during the student protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. The video showed PM Modi speaking to young people through selfie mode. However, Meta’s social media platform Facebook restricted the video in India. The restriction happened on PM Modi’s first video during the CJP protest period. Later, Facebook restored the video after questions arose over the action.
Meta Calls Restriction A Mistake After Controversy
Facebook restricted the video late at night after its upload during the CJP demonstration. When users clicked the “See Why” option at 1:25 AM, they saw a message. The message stated that Facebook restricted the content due to a legal request. Meanwhile, Meta responded that the removal happened accidentally. The company said it corrected the issue and restored the video. Therefore, Meta changed its decision after the controversy increased.
PM Modi Addressed Youth During CJP Protest
The CJP supporters continued their protest at Jantar Mantar for several days. Earlier, CJP organised a march towards Parliament on July 20. However, police stopped the crowd using lathi-charge when it moved ahead. During the growing controversy over former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, PM Modi shared a video for Gen-Z.
In the video, PM Modi said the government considered the paper leak issue seriously. He also stated that authorities had taken action regarding the matter. Additionally, PM Modi announced a high-powered task force for examination reforms. Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani chaired the task force. Later, PM Modi said the government would implement the group’s suggestions. The aim was to create a trustworthy examination system through technology and transparency.
