UP Girls To Get Scooters: Yogi Government Announces Big Move For 50,000 Students

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced scooters for 50,000 graduate students and new women-focused initiatives.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a major initiative for the state’s daughters in Lucknow. The announcement came during the launch of the Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yatra Yojana and special buses. The Chief Minister said 50,000 daughters pursuing graduation will receive scooters during October and November.

Meanwhile, Yogi Adityanath said the double-engine government focuses on women’s safety, dignity, and self-reliance. He added that government schemes cover every stage from birth to education, employment, and entrepreneurship.

Free Bus Travel Facility Announced For Women During Raksha Bandhan

The Chief Minister announced free travel for mothers, sisters, and daughters on August 27, 28, and 29. The facility will apply to Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation buses and city buses during Raksha Bandhan.

Furthermore, women above 60 years will receive free bus travel after August 29. They will need voter ID or Aadhaar card for the facility.

The government will bear their travel expenses under this arrangement.

Ahilyabai Holkar’s Name Given To Women-Focused Schemes

The government named the initiative Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar Matrushakti Yojana. Yogi Adityanath said Ahilyabai Holkar represented women’s self-reliance rights.

He also highlighted her contribution towards temple restoration. Additionally, the government will name working women’s hostels after Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar. The bus service will also carry her name.

CM Yogi Targets Previous Governments Over Women Safety

During his address, Yogi Adityanath criticised previous governments regarding women’s safety. He claimed that before 2017, daughters faced security challenges in Uttar Pradesh. He also mentioned problems involving pension schemes, scholarships, festival disturbances, and mafia influence.

According to him, intermediaries affected pension and scholarship benefits earlier.

Women Police Force Increased To Strengthen Security

Yogi Adityanath said his government continuously worked for women’s safety. He warned that anyone threatening a daughter’s safety would face strict consequences. The Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh had around 10,000 women police personnel in 2017. The number has now increased to 45,000. After new recruitment, the figure will reach 50,000. He also mentioned three women PAC battalions, pink booths, and one-stop centres.

Women Are Working Night Shifts With Confidence, Says Yogi

The Chief Minister said the government wants daughters to leave home, work, run businesses, and return safely. He added that women in Uttar Pradesh now work night shifts confidently. According to him, 36% of women have achieved self-reliance.
