Rahul Gandhi Targets Government Over Gen Z Row, Demands Supreme Court Probe Into Student Action

Rahul Gandhi alleged that FIRs and account removals were being used to silence Gen Z voices after the student protest action.

Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Friday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of intimidating Gen Z. He claimed the government was attempting to silence young voices through FIRs and social media account removals. Rahul shared a post on social media platform X and wrote, “PM Modi and Amit Shah, you cannot silence Gen Z by threatening them.”

Furthermore, Rahul Gandhi said, “First you broke their bones. Now you are filing FIRs and shutting their accounts.” He added, “You are the past of India. Be careful about how you treat India’s future.” Rahul made these remarks while raising concerns over the treatment of student protesters.

Rahul Demands Supreme Court Monitored Investigation

Earlier, on Thursday, the Congress MP demanded an independent high-level committee under Supreme Court supervision. He sought an investigation into police action against student protesters. Rahul also demanded an impartial inquiry into alleged force used during the 20 July protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

He stated, “Students deserve justice. An independent high-level committee under Supreme Court supervision should investigate the brutality against our students.” Rahul said the investigation should examine the alleged action against protesting students.

Opposition Leaders Raise Questions Over Student Action

Rahul Gandhi also shared a video showing police action against protesters. The video showed police personnel using lathis against demonstrators. Additionally, the clip showed a person in plain clothes holding the Indian flag. The person appeared to push a student protester forcefully onto the road during the police action.

Meanwhile, opposition MPs protested at Makar Dwar inside the Parliament complex on Thursday. Several parties from the INDIA alliance gathered there around 10:30 am. They carried placards and questioned who ordered the alleged police action against students at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on 20 July.

Moreover, MPs raised slogans demanding accountability from the central government. They questioned the alleged use of force against students. They also raised concerns about alleged financial irregularities involving donations given to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya.
