Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed the media at Delhi’s Indira Bhawan regarding NEET paper leak protests. He expressed full support for students and condemned the police lathi-charge. He said students deserve justice and emphasized that the Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, failed in his duties. He insisted that Pradhan resign immediately, the Parliament discuss the paper leak, and PM Modi apologize for the police’s brutal conduct. Rahul shared videos of lathi-charge during protests, highlighting students’ peaceful behavior and unjust treatment. He added the education system suffers, and millions of students and families faced immense difficulty due to repeated paper leaks. He reiterated that authorities who damage education must face punishment.
Three Key Demands to the Government
Rahul Gandhi’s first demand is Education Minister Pradhan’s resignation. His second demand is a parliamentary debate on the NEET paper leak to address student concerns. The third demand requests PM Modi personally apologize for police brutality during protests. He stated no compromise exists on these demands. He criticized the government for spreading panic and delaying parliamentary discussion despite prior requests to the Speaker. He affirmed unwavering support for students and said the opposition will not retreat.
Police Accountability Highlighted
Rahul Gandhi described police behavior during protests as unlawful, noting officers instructed to remove him at PM residence. He added one police officer from Haryana and another from Rajasthan complied with orders despite students’ peaceful stance. Gandhi said the incident does not concern him personally but highlights broader government insensitivity. He emphasized student rights and democratic principles must be upheld.
Impact of Paper Leaks Over the Decade
Gandhi stated the government has ruined employment opportunities, and paper leaks in government jobs persist. Over the last ten years, 152 paper leaks affected around 7.5 crore families. He condemned the lack of punishment for those destroying education and demanded strict action for accountability. Gandhi reiterated that student futures remain the top priority.
