On a busy Tuesday, Parliament witnessed three different protests, each focusing on distinct issues. Typically, opposition parties unite for protests on common issues, but Tuesday broke this pattern with three separate demonstrations.

Congress Protest Continues

First, Congress held a protest near Parliament’s Makar Dwar. This protest had been ongoing since the first phase of the Budget Session. Suspended MPs from the Lok Sabha, unable to enter the house, continue their regular routine by sitting on the steps to stage their protest.

Samajwadi Party Protest With Potatoes

Next, the Samajwadi Party staged a protest, led by MPs Dimple Yadav, Dharmendra Yadav, Priya Saroj, and Ikra Hasan. The protesters held placards and potatoes, shouting slogans such as “cheap potatoes, expensive sand.” The MPs raised the issue of the government’s failure to ensure proper pricing for potatoes, demanding a fair price for farmers.

Ikra Hasan held a placard that read, “Potato farmers need attention, government is ruining their lives.” Priya Saroj’s placard read, “Potato farmers are calling for help, government doesn’t listen.” Meanwhile, Dimple Yadav carried a sign saying, “Government must care for potato farmers, their lives are in danger.”

Left and RJD Protest Over Rising Prices

Lastly, members of left parties and the RJD joined the protest. They held placards with messages like “Oil is expensive, gas is heavy, where is Modi’s government hiding?” One of the placards said, “Trump’s war, public suffering, why is Modi silent?”
