Kejriwal Challenges Modi, Threatens to Quit Politics If BJP Wins Over 10 Seats in Delhi

After his acquittal in the liquor policy case, Arvind Kejriwal dares the BJP to hold elections in Delhi again.

After his acquittal in the excise policy case, Arvind Kejriwal declared he would quit politics if BJP wins more than 10 seats in Delhi. This statement came just hours after the court discharged him and other accused, including Manish Sisodia, in the case.

Kejriwal’s Bold Statement

Kejriwal addressed the media after the court’s ruling, expressing anger at the BJP’s role in the case. He boldly challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders to hold elections in Delhi again and win more than 10 seats.

“If BJP wins more than 10 seats, I will quit politics,” Kejriwal said.

The Liquor Policy Case and Its Political Implications

The excise policy case stemmed from allegations of favoritism toward private liquor businesses. The CBI and ED accused a “South Group” of paying bribes to AAP leaders. They also alleged that profit margins were increased from 5% to 12% to benefit the accused.

Court Criticizes the CBI’s Investigation

The court strongly criticized the CBI’s investigation, pointing out that the prosecution lacked credible evidence. The court highlighted that the case relied on assumptions rather than solid facts.

Kejriwal’s Relief and Reaction

Following the verdict, Kejriwal expressed relief. He said the court’s decision brought justice and truth prevailed over falsehood. He thanked his legal team, including senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi, for their support.

Kejriwal Accuses BJP of Conspiracy

In his address, Kejriwal blamed PM Modi and Amit Shah for conspiring against AAP. He said they should apologize to the nation for their attempts to undermine the party. He argued that the excise policy case became central to the BJP’s electoral campaign, tarnishing AAP’s image in the 2025 Delhi elections.

The Case’s Root Cause and Timeline

The excise policy was alleged to benefit certain liquor companies. The Chief Secretary raised concerns in 2022, prompting a CBI investigation. Manish Sisodia was arrested in February 2023, while Kejriwal was arrested in 2024. Both leaders secured bail from the Supreme Court.

Kejriwal’s Challenge to the BJP

Despite the accusations, Kejriwal remains steadfast in his stance. He emphasized that if the case had gone to trial, it would have been impossible to prosecute without solid evidence. His challenge to the BJP shows his determination to continue fighting for the future of his party.
