Indian authorities released names of six soldiers martyred in Operation Sindoor. Additionally, their identities appeared on National War Memorial website. Rifleman Sunil Kumar received posthumous Vir Chakra honour. Additionally, this award ranks as India’s third highest wartime gallantry medal. Meanwhile, Sergeant Surendra Kumar received Air Medal posthumously. Moreover, President Droupadi Murmu honoured Sunil Kumar on 8 June ceremony.
