Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed strong global admiration. However, Pew Research 2026 Global Attitude Survey shows contrasting results. Moreover, global trust in his leadership has dropped significantly. Only 23 percent respondents expressed confidence in his global handling.
Foreign policy ratings show weak global support
Pew Research Center tracked global opinion for two decades. Additionally, 74 percent across 36 countries rejected Trump’s Iran approach. Furthermore, his foreign policy received weak ratings across major issues. Consequently, international approval trends turned largely negative.
Tariff policies face widespread international criticism
Trump’s tariff strategy triggered strong global dissatisfaction. Moreover, trade-heavy partners showed lowest approval levels. In UK, only 27 percent supported trade policy decisions. Similarly, India recorded 18 percent approval in surveys.
Country-wise approval reveals deep variation
Canada reported 17 percent support for Trump policies. Meanwhile, Japan stood at 15 percent approval levels. Additionally, South Korea registered 14 percent acceptance rate. Mexico and Germany showed 11 percent and 8 percent support respectively.
Israel and Africa show relatively stronger views
Israel recorded highest positive rating at 81 percent. Additionally, several African countries maintained comparatively better perception. However, India’s trust dropped from 51 percent to 39 percent. Consequently, confidence weakened across key regions.
Canada shows steepest decline in trust levels

Europe records widespread negative sentiment
France, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, and Italy show criticism. Moreover, nearly three-quarters respondents expressed negative opinions. Germany fell from 83 percent to 39 percent trust. Sweden dropped from 83 percent to 31 percent support.
Domestic approval ratings also remain weak
Net Silver polling shows Trump net approval at 18.9. Additionally, one survey recorded only 30 percent approval. Meanwhile, economic handling satisfaction stands at 26 percent. However, 70 percent respondents expressed dissatisfaction.
Global power perception remains complex
United States continues as largest global economy. Furthermore, military strength and alliances remain strong. Yet Pew data highlights separation between power and popularity. Consequently, influence does not guarantee global approval.
