NCERT Class 6 third language Kannada textbook “Krishna” has sparked controversy in Karnataka. Education experts, writers, and activists raised strong objections. Allegations of promoting vegetarian diet and religious framing
Critics claimed the book promotes vegetarianism and religious themes. Furthermore, “Health is Wealth” chapter includes milk, fruits, vegetables, and nuts. However, it excludes eggs, fish, and meat from balanced diet references. Consequently, opponents argue it presents only vegetarian food as balanced nutrition.

Concerns over cultural representation in Karnataka regions
Activists raised objections about cultural omission in the textbook. Additionally, they said coastal Karnataka, North Karnataka, Malnad, and Mysore culture lack representation.
