India suspended the Indus Water Treaty following the Pahalgam terror attack. After nearly 14 months, Pakistan has once again issued sharp warnings.
Earlier, Pakistan repeatedly sought global platforms for relief on the issue. However, India firmly rejected these appeals and maintained strict conditions. India clearly stated that blood and water cannot flow together.
Bilawal Bhutto issues strong warning on river water rights
Pakistan People’s Party leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari made a strong parliamentary statement. He said Islamabad will not accept any compromise on river water rights. Additionally, he accused India of attempting to restrict Pakistan’s water share.
Furthermore, he warned that any such move will face firm response.
India maintains terrorism link to treaty suspension stance
India linked treaty suspension directly to cross-border terrorism concerns. Officials stated restoration depends on elimination of terrorist support systems. Moreover, India reiterated its position at United Nations platforms.
Anupama Singh reaffirmed this stance during UNSC session on 18 June.
Pakistan raises global concerns over India’s river projects
Pakistan also raised the issue at an international conference in Brussels. Ishaq Dar claimed India’s projects may impact downstream water availability. He referred to developments on Indus, Chenab, and Ravi rivers.
Additionally, he warned about shifting control over regional water resources.
