The NEET paper leak case reached the Supreme Court after a petition by FAIMA and UDF. Moreover, the hearing occurred Friday as the court examined urgent concerns regarding exam integrity. Meanwhile, the NTA filed an affidavit detailing steps to prevent future leaks and re-exam arrangements.
Re-Exam and CBT Decision
NTA clarified that NEET UG 2027’s computer-based testing (CBT) mode will be decided after the NEET re-exam. Additionally, the High-Powered Steering Committee (HPSC) will meet post re-exam to consult with the Health and Family Welfare Ministry. Consequently, future NEET exams may continue in CBT or pen-paper mode depending on this review.
Previous Measures for NEET 2026
Earlier, NEET UG 2026 conducted on 3 May used pen-paper format. However, the exam was canceled after the leak. Moreover, HPSC had met on 17 April 2026 to review preparations and recommend security measures. They advised mandatory CCTV checks at all centers, retention of footage for 90 days, and forensic analysis after exam completion.
NTA’s Commitment
Furthermore, NTA emphasized it will implement all HPSC recommendations to strengthen exam security. Therefore, the re-exam will guide policy for NEET UG 2027, ensuring fairness and transparency.
