India Joins US-Led Pax Silica Alliance at AI Summit

New Delhi signs declaration to secure critical mineral and AI supply chains with key global partners

India signed a declaration on Friday to join the US-led strategic alliance, “Pax Silica.” Officials completed the signing during the ongoing India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. Through this move, India formally entered a framework focused on resilient supply chains. The alliance targets critical minerals and artificial intelligence cooperation.

Moreover, the declaration signals India’s commitment to building secure and innovation-driven systems.
Leaders designed the framework to strengthen access to key resources. These resources remain vital for next-generation industries.

Summit Signing Marks Strategic Shift

The signing took place in New Delhi during the high-profile summit. Therefore, the moment carried both symbolic and strategic importance. India’s participation now places it within a broader economic and technological coalition.

Additionally, the initiative aims to deepen cooperation across supply chains. The scope covers everything from raw materials to semiconductors. It also includes artificial intelligence infrastructure development.

Origins and Partner Nations

Organisers first launched the initiative in December at the Pax Silica Summit in Washington.
Several countries joined as partners during that launch. These nations include Australia, Greece, Israel, Japan, Qatar, and the Republic of Korea. Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom also participate. Consequently, the alliance now spans multiple regions and industries.

Shared Vision and Economic Framework

The declaration outlines a shared vision for stronger economic and technological collaboration.
It emphasises cooperation across integrated supply chains.
At the same time, members commit to mutual prosperity and collective security.

Importantly, one key pillar focuses on building a durable economic framework.
This framework seeks to drive AI-powered growth among partner nations.

Context of Broader Bilateral Engagement

The move comes as New Delhi and Washington work to finalise a proposed trade deal. Both sides also pursue additional initiatives to strengthen bilateral ties. This effort follows a period of strain in relations.

Earlier, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor invited New Delhi to join the alliance.
He made that announcement last month.
