Delhi Metro Passengers Get New Electric Scooter Service For Easy Last-Mile Travel

A new rental service at ITO Metro Station allows passengers to hire electric scooters for hours or days through a digital booking system.

Delhi Metro commuters can now access a new last-mile travel option after stepping out of stations. Bhago Mobility has launched an electric scooter rental service with Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India and Honda Power Pack Energy India. The facility has started at ITO Metro Station’s Gate Number 3 in Delhi. The service aims to help passengers travel easily from metro stations to homes, offices, or other destinations.

The new service, called BhagoMo-eRide, allows users to rent electric scooters directly from the station. Passengers can use these scooters for a few hours or several days based on their requirements. Moreover, the service reduces dependence on autos and cabs for short-distance travel after metro journeys.

Digital Booking With Five-Minute Verification Process

The service follows a fully digital process through the Bhago app. Passengers can book electric scooters using DigiLocker-based verification. According to the company, users can complete the entire process within around five minutes.

Furthermore, users can choose rentals according to their travel needs. However, passengers must return the scooter to the same metro station hub where they picked it up. This creates a fixed station-to-station rental model.

Under this service, passengers will get Honda Activa-e electric scooters. These scooters will remain fully charged and connected through telematics systems. The technology allows digital tracking and management of vehicles.

The scooters also feature a battery swapping system. Users do not need to wait for long charging periods. Instead, they can replace an empty battery with a fully charged one.

Battery Swap Completed Within Two Minutes

Honda’s e-Swap network enables battery replacement within nearly two minutes. Therefore, rental scooters can remain available for longer usage periods. This feature makes the system more suitable for shared mobility services.

Currently, Delhi-NCR has around 90 stations with 202 battery exchangers supporting swapping facilities. As electric scooter usage increases, battery exchange systems could become more important.

After launching the service at ITO Metro Station, Bhago Mobility plans to expand this model across other major metro stations. The company aims to establish such hubs at six important metro stations with DMRC support.

Electric Mobility To Strengthen Delhi’s Last-Mile Transport

If successful, this model could connect metro travel with electric scooters as a new transport option. Consequently, passengers may get more choices for completing their final journey.

Additionally, the initiative focuses on reducing pollution and encouraging sustainable transport. Since metro already serves as a major public transport system in Delhi, combining it with electric scooters can make complete journeys more environment-friendly.
