The Lucknow ICICI Bank officer Divya Mishra case has taken another disturbing turn. Divya’s sister and journalist Pragya Mishra has now spoken publicly. Her statement followed Manas Vajpayee’s WhatsApp message and social media criticism. Pragya described Manas as a “psycho killer” in an emotional Facebook post. She also detailed several allegations about his behaviour after marriage.
According to Pragya, Manas’ controlling behaviour began during their first night together. She alleged that he prepared a household expense list immediately after their wedding. He reportedly demanded that Divya pay half the expenses. Initially, Divya accepted that arrangement. However, she stopped paying her share during the previous year. Pragya claimed Manas then started viewing the situation as “cheating”.
Furthermore, Pragya alleged that Manas frequently assaulted Divya over minor matters. She cited an example involving a tomato ordered through Blinkit. According to her account, Manas allegedly blamed Divya after receiving a spoiled tomato. She also alleged that Manas and his sister Tulika assaulted their ill mother. Pragya claimed their mother later died following those events.
Pragya alleges stalking, accident and continued emotional distress
Pragya also described Divya’s difficult experiences with stress and insecurity. She alleged that Manas frequently followed Divya. According to her post, severe stress contributed to an accident involving Divya. The incident left her with injuries to her hands and legs.
After receiving treatment for nearly one-and-a-half to two months, Divya recently began walking with a limp. Pragya said Divya still left home while experiencing pain on the day of the incident. Despite those difficulties, Divya reportedly wanted to save her relationship.
She had not removed a tattoo bearing Manas’ name from her hand. Moreover, she was preparing to observe the Hartalika Teej fast again.
Meanwhile, Divya’s seriously ill mother remains unaware of her daughter’s death. Family members have reportedly told her that Divya remains in critical condition.
