Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit targeted Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal after Satyendra Jain’s arrest. He also questioned alleged irregularities involving a sewage treatment plant. Responding to Kejriwal’s statement, Dikshit referred to an old pattern of citing unnamed officials.
He recalled similar claims during the Commonwealth period. According to him, such statements produced little substance after investigations. Dikshit said, “A mountain was dug, yet not even a mouse emerged.” He used this remark while challenging Kejriwal’s claims about information received from officials.
2G reference adds another attack on Kejriwal
Dikshit also mentioned the 2G case while criticising Kejriwal’s statements. He said Kejriwal had earlier claimed that officials privately shared information with him. Dikshit questioned whether officials had no other work besides calling Kejriwal throughout the day.
He added that those earlier claims produced nothing. Therefore, he compared repeated allegations with the familiar “wolf” story. Dikshit argued that repeated claims eventually lose public credibility. He said even Kejriwal’s devoted supporters may stop believing such statements. According to him, people no longer take these remarks seriously.
However, Dikshit also stressed that making allegations remains easy. He said anyone accused of wrongdoing should present their defence before court. Dikshit added that innocent people can seek acquittal through judicial proceedings. He questioned why someone would face difficulty defending themselves if they had committed no wrongdoing
