Mahakal Temple Queue Panic Leaves Devotees Injured After Electric Current Rumour

A rumour about electric current near barricades triggered panic outside Nagchandreshwar Temple, leaving several devotees injured in Ujjain.

Panic broke out on Monday near Harsiddhi Temple Square in Ujjain during the Nagchandreshwar Temple darshan queue. Shri Nagchandreshwar Temple sits on the upper floor of the Mahakal Temple complex. A rumour about electric current near a DP inside barricades suddenly spread among waiting devotees. Consequently, people standing for darshan rushed in fear, creating a stampede-like situation. Several devotees suffered injuries during the chaos. However, reports mentioned no loss of life or property. Authorities later shifted injured visitors to Charak Hospital for treatment.

The injured included Hindu Bai, a resident of Dhancha Bhawan in Ujjain. Sagar, son of Manish, also suffered injuries during the incident. He is 19 years old and lives in Kishanpura, Ujjain. Lakshmibai from Dhancha Bhawan also required medical treatment. Additionally, Anusuya and her mother Mamta sustained injuries. Both residents come from Ganjbasoda.

Several Devotees Taken to Charak Hospital After Queue Panic

Harishchandra from Silvassa village in Vapi, Gujarat, also suffered injuries during the rush. Meanwhile, 18-year-old Sonam from Gwalior joined the list of injured devotees. Sujit Kumar, a Darbhanga resident from Bihar, also needed treatment. Khushi from Gwalior suffered injuries as well. Furthermore, Tulsi and her mother Rekha Bai sustained injuries during the incident. Both live in Valsad, Gujarat.

Harishchandra suffered serious leg injuries after colliding with barricades during the panic. Doctors at Charak Hospital continue treating all injured devotees. Meanwhile, the incident temporarily disrupted the temple’s darshan arrangements. Police personnel and administrative teams present at the spot quickly brought the situation under control. Subsequently, officials restored crowd movement around the affected area. At present, authorities have resumed the darshan arrangements smoothly.
