A reported cyberattack claims a massive Bank of Baroda data leak on the dark web, raising concerns over customer information security.

Bank of Baroda has reportedly faced a major cyberattack incident. According to media reports, a hacker claimed a huge data leak. The hacker allegedly uploaded nearly 1TB of sensitive bank data on the dark web. The person claimed to steal information from the bank servers. Moreover, the leaked data reportedly became available online for anyone to download and analyse. The claimed data dump includes customer records and banking information.

It also reportedly contains internal documents, audit reports and compliance records. However, Bank of Baroda, RBI and CERT-In have not officially confirmed the incident yet.

What Information Does The Reported Leak Include?

According to links shared on the dark web, the 1TB data contains details from multiple bank branches. The reported information includes customer names, mobile numbers and Aadhaar card details. Additionally, savings accounts and current account records are part of the claimed leak. The data reportedly includes net banking user information, loan documents and NRI banking records. Corporate banking files also appear among the claimed leaked information. Furthermore, internal audit files, branch vigilance reports and banking app audit documents are reportedly included.

If the data proves genuine, Bank of Baroda customers may face risks. These risks include phishing attacks, identity theft and financial fraud.

Customers Should Take These Safety Steps

Customers should immediately change internet banking and mobile banking passwords. This step can help protect account access. Additionally, users should lock Aadhaar biometrics through the official UIDAI website or mAadhaar app. This can prevent possible misuse of Aadhaar information. Meanwhile, customers should avoid suspicious calls, SMS messages and emails. Fraudsters may pretend to represent bank officials.

Finally, account holders should regularly check bank statements. This practice can help identify unusual activities quickly.
