WhatsApp is about to launch a new feature allowing users to update blank profile pictures for contacts without DPs. This will help in multiple ways, particularly for users struggling to identify contacts.
How the New WhatsApp Feature Works
According to reports, WhatsApp is developing a feature that will let users set profile pictures for contacts who have removed their DP. This will allow users to choose images from their contact cards in their phone’s address book. The new profile image will only be visible to the user and not to other WhatsApp contacts.
The feature helps users easily identify contacts with similar names. It also eliminates the fear of sending messages to the wrong user in chats.
Testing and Rollout of the New Feature
The feature is currently being tested with a few beta users on iOS. Based on feedback, WhatsApp may make some changes before releasing it more widely. Once fully developed, it will be gradually rolled out to other users. However, Meta has not yet officially confirmed the release details for the general public.
WhatsApp’s Upcoming Privacy Feature
In addition to this, WhatsApp is working on a new privacy feature. The feature will automatically delete messages a few minutes after they are read. While WhatsApp already offers disappearing messages, the new feature will be faster and more advanced. Under this update, messages will be deleted automatically within 15 minutes after being read. If the message is not opened, it will disappear within 24 hours.
However, users will still be able to copy the message or take a screenshot, as there will be no restrictions on those actions. Therefore, it is essential to use this feature wisely. This feature is still in testing.
