Twisha Sharma Case Reaches High Court As Husband Seeks Bail And Family Challenges Relief

The legal battle in Twisha Sharma’s dowry harassment and death case has intensified, with both sides now moving the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

The high-profile Twisha Sharma dowry harassment and death case has now reached the High Court. Main accused Samarth Singh, Twisha’s husband, has sought bail there. His plea requests a hearing before the vacation bench. Therefore, the case has entered a sharper legal phase.

Samarth Singh currently remains outside police custody. Police want him in this case. Earlier, Bhopal district court rejected his anticipatory bail plea completely. Now, the main accused has approached the High Court. Police have also announced a ₹30,000 reward on him.

Family Opposes Giribala Singh’s Bail

The case saw another major turn after Twisha’s family challenged Giribala Singh’s anticipatory bail. Giribala Singh, Twisha’s mother-in-law, is a retired judge. The victim’s family filed a High Court plea seeking cancellation of her bail.

Family lawyer Ankur Pandey claimed the relief given to Giribala Singh goes against legal principles. According to him, the bail violates laws passed by the legislature and established rules. He also said the family consulted legal experts first. After that, they moved the High Court for bail cancellation.

Second Postmortem Demand Also Continues

Twisha’s family wants a fair investigation in the case. Therefore, they want a second postmortem at AIIMS Delhi. Earlier, a Bhopal sessions court rejected this demand.

The court said sending the body to Delhi did not fall under its jurisdiction. Twisha’s father said the family will also seek High Court intervention on this issue. They want directions for a second postmortem.

What The Case Is About

Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old woman from Noida, married Bhopal resident Samarth Singh in December 2025. However, she died under suspicious circumstances on May 12. Her family alleges that her in-laws harassed her after marriage for dowry.

They also claim Twisha faced mental and physical torture from her marital family. Considering the seriousness of the case, police registered charges against Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh. The case includes dowry harassment and other sections. Meanwhile, an SIT continues investigating the matter.
