Paytm introduced two major features for users, and this update changes daily payment habits significantly. The company rolled out biometric authentication for UPI payments and cardless ATM withdrawals. Therefore, users can now complete transactions faster without traditional steps. Additionally, both features aim to simplify routine usage while maintaining security standards.
UPI Payments Biometric Authentication
Firstly, Paytm added biometric authentication for UPI payments inside the app. Now, users do not need to enter a UPI PIN during transactions. Instead, they can verify payments using Face ID or fingerprint scans. For example, users scan a QR code and enter the payment amount. Then, instead of entering a PIN, the system prompts biometric verification.
Once users place a finger on the sensor, payment completes instantly after successful scanning. Similarly, Face ID works for iOS devices, while fingerprint sensors support Android devices. Moreover, Paytm confirmed that neither the platform nor banks store biometric data. Therefore, user privacy and safety remain protected throughout the process.
Limits, Options, and Setup Process
According to NPCI guidelines, biometric UPI payments carry a transaction limit of ₹5000 per transaction. However, users who prefer traditional methods can still use UPI PIN options. Meanwhile, enabling this feature requires a simple process within the app.
Users must open Paytm and tap the profile icon on the left side. Then, they should access settings and select fingerprint or Face ID payment options. After that, they must choose the bank account and complete authentication setup through on-screen instructions.
Cardless ATM Withdrawals Explained
Secondly, Paytm introduced cardless ATM withdrawals for users. This feature allows cash withdrawal without carrying a physical ATM card. Notably, this update follows RBI’s two-factor authentication rules implemented from April 1.
These rules apply across UPI, cards, and wallet-based digital payments. Therefore, the feature aligns with updated security requirements while improving convenience.
How Users Can Withdraw Cash Without Card
Users must link their bank account with Paytm UPI to access this feature. Then, they should select UPI cash withdrawal at an ATM. After entering the amount, they must scan the displayed QR code using Paytm.
Next, users complete verification using their UPI PIN. Finally, the ATM dispenses cash and sends instant confirmation on the app. Importantly, each transaction allows withdrawal up to ₹10,000.
What This Means for Users
Overall, these features simplify payments and cash withdrawals for everyday use. Moreover, users gain faster access without relying on cards or PINs. However, transaction limits and authentication steps still ensure safety. Therefore, Paytm continues balancing convenience with secure digital payment practices.
