Government intensifies action against objectionable content as multiple OTT platforms face possible blocking orders.

If you watch web series or films on OTT platforms, then this update matters. Moreover authorities currently monitor around 15 OTT platforms closely.

Therefore officials examine illegal and objectionable content streaming across these services. Consequently authorities may soon block these platforms completely.

Additionally government earlier banned several platforms due to obscene and objectionable content.

Continuous Action Against Objectionable Content

Authorities continue strict action against platforms hosting explicit material regularly. Meanwhile a parliamentary standing committee reviewed communication and information technology matters. Accordingly the report confirms monitoring of 15 OTT platforms under investigation.

Furthermore the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting informed the panel about earlier actions. Initially authorities banned 25 OTT platforms during earlier phases.

Subsequently officials blocked 18 additional platforms after further review. Meanwhile authorities now examine 10 to 15 more platforms actively.

Therefore officials continuously issue blocking orders against violating services.

Platforms Blocked Recently

In February authorities blocked five OTT platforms for streaming obscene content. These platforms include MoodXVIP, Koyal Playpro, Digi Movieplex, Feel, and Jugnu.

Therefore strict enforcement continues against such services regularly.

Previous Actions Against OTT Services

Authorities already took similar steps during previous years against illegal streaming services. Last year officials banned 25 applications in similar cases.

Moreover popular services such as ULLU also appeared in that banned list.

Rising OTT Consumption in India

Meanwhile digital streaming continues to grow rapidly across India. Reports indicate more than 60 crore users actively use OTT platforms.

Additionally around 15 crore users hold paid subscriptions for such services.

Consequently traditional television viewership continues to decline steadily. Currently only 25 percent users depend on TV for entertainment.

Therefore OTT platforms dominate entertainment consumption across the country.
