Political activity in Madhya Pradesh has intensified as Rajya Sabha elections approach. To prevent internal dissent and potential cross-voting, Congress is shifting its lawmakers strategically. Sources reveal the party may fly MPs to Karnataka via special aircraft. All lawmakers must assemble at Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar’s residence by noon before relocation. They can bring family members, but staff are not allowed, ensuring focused party coordination.
BJP’s Candidate and Controversy
Meanwhile, BJP announced Mahesh Kevat as its third Rajya Sabha candidate. Political circles have debated cross-voting risks, making Congress’ relocation critical for election control. Congress MP Jitu Patwari refrained from commenting directly on relocation but criticized BJP sharply. He claimed BJP has entrenched corruption in Madhya Pradesh and mismanages governance. Patwari called the current government “Ali Baba and 40 thieves” for persistent malpractice.
Patwari Questions BJP Strategy
Patwari criticized BJP’s candidate selection, noting the third candidate came from an OBC family externally. He alleged BJP avoided female reservation despite ongoing debates, deploying the candidate primarily to lose strategically. Patwari asserted Congress remains committed to protecting citizens’ fundamental rights nationwide.
He expressed confidence that Congress’ Rajya Sabha candidate will ultimately emerge victorious.
