Modi’s Gold And Fuel Appeal Sparks Rahul Gandhi’s Sharpest Charge Yet

As PM Modi urged citizens to reduce fuel use, delay gold purchases and restart WFH, Rahul Gandhi called the appeal proof of failed governance.

Amid worsening conditions in the Middle East and the Gulf crisis, Rahul Gandhi strongly attacked PM Modi’s public appeal for restraint. Modi asked citizens to use less oil, gas, gold, and other items. However, Rahul said the government had brought India to this point after 12 years.

Rahul Gandhi Calls Modi’s Appeal Proof Of Failure

On Monday, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi posted on X. He targeted PM Modi’s appeal sharply. Moreover, he said, “PM Modi asked people for sacrifice yesterday. He said, do not buy gold, do not travel abroad, burn less petrol, reduce fertiliser and edible oil, travel by metro, work from home. These are not his sermons. These are proof of failure.”

Further, Rahul linked the appeal to Modi’s 12-year rule. He said the country had reached a stage where citizens now receive instructions. They hear what to buy, what to avoid, where to go, and where not to go.

Then, Rahul accused Modi of shifting responsibility onto citizens every time. He said this helped Modi escape accountability. After that, he added, “Running the country is not something a Compromised PM can handle anymore.”

Earlier, PM Modi addressed people during a programme in Telangana. He urged restraint as tensions grew in the Gulf region. Also, he cited the deepening global crisis and pressure on global energy. Therefore, he asked people to use petrol, diesel, and gas carefully.

Additionally, Modi said India should restart systems used during the Covid period. He mentioned work from home, online meetings, and video conferences. Through this appeal, he asked people to reduce unnecessary movement and fuel use.

Meanwhile, Modi also appealed for saving foreign exchange. He said global prices of petrol and diesel had risen quickly. As a result, India faced a heavier foreign exchange burden. So, he urged people to use metro trains and public transport instead of private vehicles.

Finally, Modi asked businesses to prioritise railways for freight movement. He also urged citizens to postpone gold purchases for one year. However, Rahul Gandhi framed these appeals as evidence of governance failure, not public advice.
