Google Pixel’s New Scam Detection Feature Can Warn You Before You Reply

Google has started the September 2026 Pixel Drop rollout with Scam Detection, Digital Wellbeing tools, and fresh customisation options.

Google has started the September 2026 Pixel Drop rollout for users. The update brings several new features across Pixel devices. Additionally, users will get Scam Detection, Digital Wellbeing tools, and new customisation options. Google is sending the update gradually to different devices and carriers. Eligible devices will receive a system notification about the update. Furthermore, users need the latest Android version and refreshed apps for access.

Google Pixel Introduces New Scam Detection Feature

The Scam Detection feature remains the biggest highlight of this Pixel Drop. It helps users identify suspicious chats and messages before replying. Initially, Google introduced this feature in America for Pixel 6 and newer models. The tool works directly through Gboard and supports third-party chat platforms. When users begin replying to a suspicious conversation, the keyboard displays a “Likely scam” alert. Moreover, the feature performs data analysis directly on the phone in real time.

Scam Warning Expands To Notifications

Google has now extended Scam Detection to notification alerts. Users can see a “Likely scam” warning before opening suspicious message previews. Earlier, this feature remained limited to Pixel 6 and newer models in America. However, Google is expanding it to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, and the UK. Additionally, Notification Scam Protection now supports more languages. These include Arabic, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Pixel VIPs Receives New Home Screen Features

Google has updated the Pixel VIPs feature with new Home Screen Widgets. Users can now contact priority people directly from the home screen. They can make one-tap calls or send messages quickly. Furthermore, the update adds special indicators for unread and important notifications.

Older Pixel Models Get Pause Point Feature

The Digital Wellbeing feature called Pause Point has reached older Pixel devices. Earlier, Google introduced this feature on Pixel 11. Now, Pixel 6 and newer models can also access it. The feature creates a short pause before users open selected distracting apps. Therefore, users get time to reconsider opening an app immediately. This helps users make a more thoughtful choice while using their devices.
