Violence broke out across Bengal during the second phase of voting. Areas like Chapra, Shantipur, and Bhangar witnessed incidents of clashes and vandalism. According to PTI, BJP candidate Priyanka Tibrewal from the Entali seat clashed with polling officials. The conflict occurred when her representative was asked to leave the polling booth due to space constraints.
BJP claimed that these actions were a sign of the frustration of the ruling party. They alleged that multiple people were standing inside the booth, pressuring voters.

Attack on BJP Worker by TMC Supporters in Nadia
In Chapra, Nadia district, BJP worker, Morishif Mir, was allegedly attacked by TMC supporters. Senior police officials reported that Mir was admitted to a local hospital. Mir claimed over a dozen TMC workers, including one armed with a gun, attacked him with rods. BJP candidate from Chapra seat, Saktiraj Sarkar, accused TMC workers of assaulting Mir, hitting him on his head.
PTI shared a video showing a man being dragged by paramilitary forces and police officers. In the video, two armed security personnel are seen beating a person with sticks.
Property Damage and Car Vandalism in Shantipur and Bhangar
Meanwhile, property damage was reported in Shantipur. Police confirmed that BJP’s local office had its furniture damaged, creating further tension in the area. In Bhangar, South 24 Parganas, a newly-formed Indian Secular Front (ISF) agent, connected to the Left Front, was denied entry to a polling booth.
BJP candidate from South 24 Parganas, Bikash Sardar, also faced car vandalism. His orange Maruti Baleno had its rear windshield smashed. The party attributed this to TMC workers.
Mamata Banerjee Accuses BJP of Spreading Terrorism
Amid the clashes, Mamata Banerjee accused central security forces of acting on BJP’s orders. She claimed the forces were targeting TMC supporters. “This is not how elections should happen,” she said. She also criticized the BJP for bringing in external observers.
